In 1988 Paul started his career in shipping, initially with BP and then John I Jacobs. In 1996 Paul was introduced to oil trading while working for Galana Petroleum where he helped build a portfolio trading petroleum products and tankers around the Arabian Gulf, East Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands, then in 2009 he became a consultant to the Vitol Group where helped to establish new products trading activity in the Indian Ocean.
Throughout his career spanning over 30 years Paul has concluded hundreds of oil sales and purchases and chartered about 1,000 tankers, he has negotiated throughput contracts for storage terminals, transacted futures and derivatives, negotiated trade finance and handled all operations related to cargo sales and purchases and tanker fixtures. Paul has a B.A. (Hons) Economics and Geography from Middlesex Polytechnic and a M.A. Management from Durham University Business School.
